As controversy and protests ahead of the Olypics in China gather momentum, so does the campaigning by Amnesty International. The above poster, is one of three powerful press ads that tackle the issue. I also spotted the other day a simple yet clever and effective take on the amnesty logo, that replaced their candle with the olympic flame.

Net Vibes
Stuck with a strange computer? Awkward silence?! No bookmarks you say? Well there has been a fair few of these customizable bookmarking sites around from some of the major corps like Google, but this one from netvibes is really easy to use. Worth a look.

Modernista
Very clever website for Boston and Amsterdam based agency Modernista. There site is the small red square (top right) in the above screen grab. The site links utilize other sites such as Wikipedia, Flickr, and Google Maps as tools to explain details about their company, thus keeping their own site to a minimal. Great thinking that stands them out amongst other sites reliant on self built content.

Water Projection
In order to promote the new Japanese film "The Water Horse: Legend of The Deep", this ambient was done using a mix of water projection screen techniques and some synchronized water fountains.

Like. No. Other. But Kind of Like the Other Ones
The new Sony Bravia advert is incoming. This time for their new range of 'Bravia' branded digital cameras, the ad is being shot in miami and seems to involve bubbles on a grand scale.
Homage to Lego
I love Lego, period. What an absolute brilliant brand. One that not only acts as childhood nostalgia as a toy, but a creative toy that has developed into great advertising, viral crazes, movie tie-ins, theme parks, computer games and so on. This is a little homage to Lego...
Lego used here not for the brand itself but to support cholesterol checks. The line states "Dont play with your health, check your cholesterol" by McCann Portugal.

Transport For London - Optical Illusions
The new Transport for London ad to raise awareness for motorcyclists on our roads, by M&C Saatchi. Unique approach of using optical illusion that allows the ad to end without the usual "car crash" scenes we're accustomed to in such safety messages.

Dogs & Bears
A couple of ads bouncing around. The above video is for VW Polo, Singing Dog, by DDB London. Very funny, plus been working on a link to the new ad for cyclist awareness, for Think, should have it on our vodpod widget soon, but also find it here.

The Same Routine
We discovered vodpod today (probably a 'wee' bit slower than the rest of the world) and we think its awesome. Any videos that capture our attention we'll now throw in our widget on the right. Our newest addition is a smart ambient/adshell for The British Army, courtesy of Publicis.

Billboard

Not entirely sure what this ad is all about but it caught my eye over on The Guardian online '24 hours in pictures.' The ad is in Caracas, Venezuela. I believe Maggi are specialists in instant food and have probably paid the residents a tantalizing some of money for this 're-invention' of the billboard.
In An Absolut World

I've always been a fan of Absolut Vodka's advertising, from their surreal optical illusion press ads to their 'In An Absolut World' television ads. So it's nice to see some creative digital work put behind the brand. The work by Teenage Engineering asks "In an Absolut world, would machines be creative?". The site, decked out in a DOS-style interface then proceeds by linking you to a real-time webcam (one in NY, one in Stockholm) where two machines wait. One is an Absolut Quartet, the other an Absolut Choir. Through the users input of text and clicking notes, the machines react and play music. I've never seen nothing quite like this online, and found the live interaction to have potential for future digital work.
Flash-bang in Your Face
A little bit of geeky news I came across earlier. Facebook has agreed to allow business and band to use and embed flash applications into their profile pages. This is interesting of course in terms of the advertising potential. However, even though the move is currently only being implied to the business side of Facebook, some fans of the social networking site will be concerned the move will turn to personal pages, such is the case with Myspace. Allowing users to turn their pages into agonisingly slow to open, tacky carnivals of light and sound. Great.
A Blank Piece of Paper
Ad Season

Caught a glimpse of the trailer the other night for BBC 4's new t.v series Mad Men and immediately hit the series link on the Sky +. The show, set in 1960's follows an ad agency on New York's Madison avenue, and is from writer Matthew Weiner of Sopranos fame, which is not a bad thing at all. Also the channel is airing a few other ad based shows to promote the season such as 'Selling the 60's' and 'The Hard Sell'.

Welcome!
At last we have a blog! Matt & Sarah that is. Two young creatives about to graduate from Bucks Uni, with the "light at the end of the tunnel" burning holes into their big innocent baby eyes. Having already experienced a little of the world of advertising and ideas, we have decided we would like to experience a little more! So in return we have decided to create this blog to show the world what interests us and what is on our minds. Enjoy!
